Sultan of Sokoto Announces the Commencement of 2012 Ramadan Fast
Following speculations that the annual Muslim Ramadan fast had commence, thousands of Nigerian Muslims remained expectant to be informed of the sighting of the moon, a development that signifies the commencement of the religious.
Interestingly, the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar has announced the sighting of the new moon on Thursday night.
The announcement signified the commencement of 29 or 30 days Ramadan fasting on Friday, July 20, 2012
According to the leader of the Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria, the moon was sighted in Bornu, Kebbi, Zamfara States.
Alhaji Abubakar urged Muslims to seize the opportunity of the blessed month to pray for security in Nigeria.
