Charlie Sheen Changes Name
Charlie Sheen used
his birth name Carlos Estevez in the new Robert Rodriguez film Machete Kills,
according to TMZ.
It is the first
time in the actor's career he was not billed as Charlie Sheen. Director
Rodriguez' films, such as El Mariachi, Desperado and Machete, often celebrate
Latino pride.
Martin Sheen,
Charlie's father, was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estevez from his Spanish
father's side. He made up "Martin Sheen" to get acting jobs but never
changed his name legally. He passed his last name by birth, Estevez, to all
four of his children.
Martin has said he
regrets not using his real name as an actor.
Charlie portrays
the U.S.
president in the campy thriller about a rampaging Mexican assassin.
