Sotayo Hits Location for New Flick Corper Jide

Still basking in the euphoria of the huge buzz and success recorded by her first self-produced movie, ‘Arewa Onijogbon’, pretty video vixen turned actress, Tayo Sobola popularly known as Sotayo is set to hit the location for her second movie with the working title ‘Corper Jide.’

The fast rising actress is leaving no stone unturned to make sure the success of this new film surpasses that of ‘Arewa Onijogbon’. Elated Sotayo explained, “I never expected Arewa Onijogbon to go this far because I was only experimenting with the project. The reception by fans and movie watchers was enormous, and the movie had rave reviews both from the media and from those who watched it”.

She further revealed that ‘Arewa Onijogbo’ has no doubt “put me on the spot, and I just have to up my game with this new project, but I want my fans to be rest assured that with ‘Corper Jide’, they will surely get value for every penny they will spend on the movie when it is out.”

In the same vein, Biodun Caston-Dada, the CEO, MAGiKAL Entertainment, the company that handles Sotayo’s image and brand, noted that the success recorded by Sotayo’s previous movie took everyone off guard “because this was Sotayo’s first self-produced movie, and we weren't expecting the movie to get such high reception and media reviews. The movie made it to the Top 10 Charts of many popular Yoruba Movies Top 10 Charts TV programmes, and this is a good indication that Sotayo is on the right path. A lot of hard work and money was invested in Arewa Onijogbon, but at the end, it was worth it.”

He maintained that MAGiKAL Entertainment is on the same page with Sotayo’s vision of not doing things in half measures. “We strongly believe that the viewers will give her another big kudos when the movie finally drops. ‘Corper Jide’ will be shot in Lagos and Ijebu-Ode, and will star top Yoruba movie personalities such as Dele Odule, Gloria Mba, Ayo Mogaji, Afeez Oyetoro, Iyabo Oko, Ayo Adesanya, Aremu Afolayan and Sotayo herself, and will be directed by ace director, S. Muyideen Ayinde. It is going to be another blockbuster so I want everyone to sit tight, and watch out for the movie.”

Sotayo’s profile has steadily been on the rise through various comedy skits and movies she has starred in, such as Rhythm Unplugged adverts and Bovi’s Show (The Fish and Gift & Chase). She has also featured in movies like ‘Ewu L’oko Longe’ (on Galaxy TV), ‘Ojukoju’, ‘T’owo-T’omo’, ‘Aiyedun’ by Iyabo Oko (yet to be released).

She’s presently on the movie set of Aremu Afolayan.
