In furtherance of its committment to protect the child from all forms of physcal, mental and sexual abuse, Meljenstin Youth Empowerment Initiative (MYEI) has teamed up with the Society for Promotion of Education and Development (SPED) to tackle this menace.

According to the founder and President of MYEI, Chibuzor Patrick also known as Buzopat International, plans have been concluded to stage a one-day seminar in commemoration of the world day for prevention of child abuse.

"We believe  the children are the youth that eventually become leaders. However, for them to rise to this fact, they must be prepared physically, intellectually, emotionally, morally, psychologically and constructively. We are excited  with the theme 'Stop Violence Against Children' through this one-day seminar. Our voice will join the international communities to reject child abuse on this day set aside for it. We are requesting that every passionate NGO should speak up now irrespective of their take," Buzopat enthused.

She added that the aim of the siminar is to encourage parents to go back to the basics and ensure that moral values do not continue to collapse at the home front.

"We want to create awareness because child abuse especially sexual abuse is a universal and alarming problem. We also understand that efficient protection skills and preventive measures are necessary at family, local, national and international levels."

Participants have been drawn from in-school and out of school youths, children, teachers, women organizations, development practitioners, civil society organizations, faith based groups, government and vulnerable communities, just to make the awareness total.

The program will feature change agent transformational speakers like Mr Tim Ayoola Abiodun and Bar Jide Ologun. Comedians, musicians and Nollywood actors and actresses artistes will also be on ground to spice up the event.
