NKIRU - The mystery of Mamy Water unveiled (Coming to cinemas soon)

For countless years, millions of Nigerians and many others across the globe must have at one time or the other wondered precisely where the 'Mamy Water' stories and the countless tales of beings with human forms living underwater must have stemmed from.

After an endless wait, NKEM - a short Nigerian story has taken a sledge hammer to the walls of mystery surrounding the ageless controversy and the result is a pulsating story dripping with suspense, thrills and heart-pounding fascination.

Nkiru, a short movie recently featured on MTV’s Touching Base documentary, premieres on Sunday 18th December 2011.

Nkiru is the captivating story of a group of friends who disappear from a beach party under mysterious circumstances. The film takes the audience into the supernatural world of the African mermaid mythology otherwise known as Mami Water.

With a series of live screenings across the country planned for the New Year, audience and critics alike are set to be mesmerized by stellar performances by a crop of new and talented actors, including Nollywood newcomer KC Ejelonu.

The 12-minute supernatural thriller is written and directed by the internationally acclaimed Bolaji Kekere-Ekun, and produced by Nkechi Bakare of the 37th State Productions. The thriller is shot in a style reminiscent of the Hollywood urban legend genre and scored by award winning Hollywood music composer Austin Wintory.

Nkiru premieres 6pm, Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the La Scala restaurant, Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos.

The premiere is open to the media.
