Mercy Obanla: Beauty and the Beast

By Samod Biobaku

Most Nigerians would agree that in the face of hostility and economic and political uprising, the voice of social activists remain in the fore-front of the fight against the opposition.
This might however become a thing of the past especially if the voice of Nigeria’s fast-rising model, Mercy Obanla is anything to go by.
Rather than strictly restrict herself to matters relating to her work and other feminine-related issues, the gorgeous model has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to consider the plight and fate of Nigerians in his resolute stand on the removal of oil subsidy.
In a chat with Simply SAMAD, the model bared her mind on the call from some sections of Nigerians for President to step down.
 Mercy Obanla wrote:
“Our mentality is where the problem is. President Goodluck Jonathan might step down but are we ready to let go off bribery and corruption and choose the right person? Are we ready to be freed from our mentality? If we are not free from our mind set, then we are not free at all.”
