In the year 2005, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was blacklisted (and banned for
one year) along with the likes of Genevieve and many other A-list Nollywood
actors for allegedly taking undue advantage of their A-list status to charge
huge fees from Nigerian producers.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is one of the most; if not the most
(arguably) popular Nigerian actress alive today.
She is married to Capt. Matthew Ekeinde and has 4 lovely children
- Princess is 16, M.J is 14, Meraiah is 12 and Michael is 10.
Omotola is involved in extensive charity work.
Omotola Jalade Ekeinde was born in a family of five to Mr.
& Mrs. Shola Jalade (both late) and two brothers, Tayo and Bolaji Jalade.
Her pilot husband once flew a Sosoliso plane, handed over
the plane to the next pilot (a family friend) and the plane unfortunately crashed;
killing the pilot and 109 passengers on board (including 60 students from Loyola Jesuit
College in Abuja).
She has been married for 16 years and her marriage took
place in a plane.
Her father was the manager of Lagos Country Club and he died
when she was 12 year old.
She got married when she was 18 years old and she’s 34 years
old now.
A lot of people say she’s a snob but this was how she
responded when asked if she was one – “I guess I have this demeanour that makes
me look like I’m in my own zone. People just assume that I’m a snob. Sometimes
I really could enter my own zone and it depends on where I am. If I’m in a
place where the air is too stiff for me, I just become very quiet. But if I get
to a place and I feel the vibe and it’s free and fun, you are practically going
to be begging me to sit in one place. I’m too extreme, I can be overly bubbly
and overly quiet. I’m never really in the middle and I can’t pretend.”
