Waconzy to Reward 5 Winners With $1,000 Each

Abia State born singer and philanthropist, Waconzy recently released a single titled Ekpo and during the official release party for the song, he taught his fans how to do what he called the 'Ekpoh dance.'

As a result of the level of buzz generated by the song and the 'Ekpoh' dance, Waconzy and his Dv8 Media team decided to positively impact the society by giving away $5,000 dollars ($1000 each) to five lucky fans who can perform the perfect 'Ekpoh Dance.'

The word 'Ekpoh' means masquerade in Igbo language and the motive behind the dance is "to let your enemies know that you can't see them, which is why you have to cover your face while dancing," Waconzy explained.

To execute the 'Ekpoh Dance,' the dancer covers his/her face with the left hand and dances like he/she is going insane. When you hear the phrase, 'Knack am,' the dancer is expected to act like he/she is holding a stick with the right hand and use it to hit the unseen enemy.

"You can also add your own flavor. Do anything very entertaining to express the Ekpoh dance but remember you must cover your face with your left hand.  Group dance drama will be considered a plus," the organisers explained.

Interestingly, top 10 entries will be part of Waconzy's 'Ekpoh' music video shoot.

Explaining the procedure for participation, Waconzy said, "To participate, simply Download 'Waconzy - Ekpoh,' watch the 'Ekpoh Dance' instruction by Waconzy, record and Upload your best EKPOH dance video on YouTube with the name, 'Waconzy Ekpoh dance by (yourname)' and Tweet @waconzy with the hashtag '#waconzyekpohdancecompetition' and email video link to the specified e-mail, ‘dv8@waconzy.com.’

Winners will be announced On August 10th 2014 on top websites/blogs. The videos will be judged based on how original and entertaining they are.
