The musical journey of the Ajayi Brovas is one that threads on the ledge of talent and musical possibilities.

About a year ago, they popped out of the blues with ambitions taller than the ‘Great Wall of China.’ As expected, quite a number of music fans across the globe had wondered how far the brothers that make up the group would go with their musical aspirations.

Today, riding on the platform of 9ice’s ‘Alapomeji Records,’ they have gradually warmed their presence into the spot where originality, persistence, creativity and hard work dwell.

Interestingly, the Ajayi Brovas recently stepped out of their musical shells to offer a dose of what their musical arsenal holds.

The venue was O’niel’s Sports Bar in Yaba, Lagos and the occasion was the listening party for their album, ‘Street Bankers.’ The event was scheduled to roll at 9:00pm but as expected, the ‘African Time’ factor had the kick off delayed till sometime past 10:00pm.

To gain access into the venue, guests were not expected to brandish any invitation. Rather, a copy of the album (sold at N1, 000) at the venue was all that was required.

To keep guest glued to their seat, popular comedian, Seyi Law was on hand to deliver an endless stream of rib-racking jokes. As the event progress, he was joined by fellow comedian, Bash.

Other celebrities whose presence rubbed off on the show include YQ, Kash 11, XP, Alariwo, Plus One, Chuddy K, Nina and a host of others.

Prior to the proper kick off, the red carpet session had various artistes grilled on their crafts and musical plans for 2011.

Also on ground to breathe life into the 5-hour event were members of the Alapomeji family – The presence of the likes of 9ice (fondly dubbed ‘Baale’), Seriki, Kayefi, Wise, Snow and other prominent members apparently kept the audience asking for more.

However, as the night progressed, one grey area that simply couldn’t be wished away was the fact that the massive crowd in attendance and the venue were in similitude to a huge square peg being forced into a tiny square hole.

Despite this shortcoming, the event lived up to expectation in several other regards that had the crowd laughing and loving the jokes and musical performances all through the duration of the show.

By 2:00am, the curtains were drawn on a show that served as an enticing window into the size of the musical dynamite the Alapomeji family is clearly planning to hurl into the Nigerian music industry in 2011.
