MBGN 2010 reveals one thing she would never do for her man

Blessed with a face that could make wishes come true and a frame, vocal projection, poise, elegance, carriage, smile, eyes and visage capable of making a king relinquish his throne, Fiona Amuzie has morphed from a campus queen to an international brand.

A couple of months ago, her profile as a beauty queen barely went beyond the walls of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) where she studies Microbiology and was crowned queen.
However, within the twinkle of an eye, Amuzie has grown from being a young lady admired by thousands into a beauty queen admired by many and adored by many more.
Her emergence as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2010 was not a walk in the park and as expected she competed with so many beautiful and intelligent contestants from all parts of the country. She worked hard and prayed harder and today, she stands out as MBGN 2010.
Speaking with SIMPLY SAMAD shortly before a photo shoot session, Amuzie delved into how she got into modeling, growing up, life before and after emerging queen and the things she misses the most about her former lifestyle prior to her being crowned MBGN 2010.
The fact that a good number of Nigerians share certain preconceived beliefs about the African woman is no longer news but when asked if she ever considered herself an African woman in this context or ever saw herself cooking, doing the dishes or washing her husband’s boxer shorts, Amuzie made it clear that one of the things she would never do for a man would be to wash his underwear. Asked this question point blank, she goes, “(Opens her eyes wide in surprise and bursts into a very long bout of laughter) I can’t wash his boxers (still shakes her head in addition to saying no). As for cooking, I’m sure you’re talking about when I’m married. Then, there would be a mutual understanding.”
For those who are not already aware, Amuzie represented Nigeria at the Miss World Beauty Pageant in 2010.
Right now, she’s taking part in forums organized for youth enlightenment and “I’m also strategizing on my project and I have to be tactical,” she said.

How did beauty pageant begin because we know everything has a beginning?
It began from my school when I won the ‘Miss University of Jos’ in 2010. I decided to go further by taking the MBGN form and got into it because I aspire to go higher in everything I do.

What was going through your mind when you had to contend with so many other beautiful girls during the auditions?
There were a lot of girls there and I was just praying to God in my mind to help me make it through and the Lord was good to me and I thank God for that.

Has there been any difference between life before emerging MBGN 2010 and afterwards?
Yeah! I didn’t have people doing my make-up(laughs). Life before was different. I was just a beauty queen in a university and now I’m representing Nigeria. Now, I get to have my make-up done by Lola and Maj. I also get free clothes from Occasions and Events and I have a Subaru car. I could be one of the very few that have a Subaru in Nigeria and that’s a privilege. I consider myself very favoured.

Do you miss anything because I know there’s a huge difference between being a queen from Jos and being MBGN?
I miss eating carbohydrates. I also miss having to eat everything and anything because right now, my diet is restricted and monitored.

Do you work out?
I do aerobics

Let’s talk about boys. Are you dating?
No I’m not

Why?
Because you’re here (laughs).

So, you’re saying you don’t have any emotional attachments anywhere
No I don’t.

Before the pageant, was there anyone?
You should have asked me then. If you asked me then, I would have given you an answer. Sorry, you’re not lucky today.

Let’s talk about your ideal man because sooner or later, you’re going to get married and start a family. Describe for me your ideal man
It’s a secret; a top secret and it’s classified.

What did your dad and mum have to say when you declared your intention to go for a beauty pageant?
They were very supportive. They never tried to discourage me because they trained me well.
