Omotola speaks with Simply Samad

Omotola’s milk of kindness flows @ Heart of Gold Hospices and SOS Children Village
· Gives 20 per cent of album proceeds to charity
Her beauty and unequalled acting prowess might hive pivoted her into stardom but the star actress and mother of four has always had a soft spot for reaching out to the needy, helpless and oppressed members of the society that made her what she has become today.

It therefore didn’t come as a surprise when Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s charitable side was once again recently displayed when she stormed the ‘Heart of Gold Hospices’ and ‘SOS children Village’ in Isolo, Lagos.
The gorgeous actress whose benevolent side has never been in question was right at hand to give twenty percent of proceeds from her album sales to charity as earlier promised during her album launch in 2010.
Her two-day charity tour kicked off with a four-hour visit to the Heart of Gold Hospices and she was joined by members of OYEP (Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme). Guided by the founder of the orphanage, Mrs. Adedoyin, the star actress cum musician went round the orphanage and showed her sympathy to the children while revealing that she can’t imagine the wickedness that exists in the mind of the parents of some of the children.
Duirng her visit, Omotola was moved to tears when she met a baby who suffered from a formation malfunction.
She rounded off her visit by motivating and playing with the kids and eventually gave out gifts that included toiletries, clothes and products from Chivita.
The following day, Omotola’s ‘Give-and-Let-Give’ train moved to the SOS Children Village in Isolo where she and her crew met with the social official in-charge. Omotola and her crew were shown round the village: to the children's hostels and classrooms. As expected, the children were elated to see her and she advised them to be focused and be good children. She then donated clothes, shoes, food stuffs, biscuits, and products from Chivita to the village.
Explaining the rationale behind her visit to the orphanage, Omotola disclosed that it was pertinent to give back to the society, “All religions encourage this. It is a sure way to make other people happy and the sad thing is that these children did not put themselves in this position. They met themselves in that condition because of some people’s mistakes,” said Omotola who is also a UN Ambassador for World Food Programme (WFP).
Interestingly, all through Omotola’s career that has spanned over 15 years, the actress has in one way or the other been a ‘philanthropist-celebrity.’ Just last year, she became the first African to step into the shoes of Nicholas Cage and Bono when she was engaged by the biggest non-governmental organization (NGO), Amnesty International in war-torn Sierra Leone to raise awareness for the menace of high maternal mortality rate.
