Basketmouth steps up his game
· To thrill in U.K, Ikoyi
In 2010, Basketmouth’s name went down in history as the second black comedian to perform comedy at Indigo2; at the prestigious 02 arena in Greenwich London; where the 2, 500 capacity hall was filled to the brim.
He held another show that was equally successful at Birdcage, a nightclub located in the heart of the vibrant city of Manchester. Now, Bright Okpocha; Nigeria’s world renowned comedian is out to set a new record as he has unveiled plans to host the 1st Nigerian comedy show at the Hammersmith Apollo; a major entertainment venue located in Hammersmith, London.
Basket Mouth will not be gracing the stage of the Hammersmith Apollo hall that seats about 7,000 people and was the same venue Chris Rock an American comedian, actor and television producer, hosted his last show (Kill the Messenger) all by himself.
The show scheduled for the May 27th, 2011 will also feature comedians like Julius Callahan, a renowned British comedian, Kevin J (UK), Gordons and Nkem Owoh.
Also returning in grand style and with a bigger and better concept is ‘Laffs n Jamz;’ the monthly comedy show run by Basket Mouth at the Fantasyland in Ikoyi that attracted lots of fun lovers in and around Lagos. The event also featured musicians like Asa, Sound Sultan, 2 Face, P Square, Blackface, Djinee, Faze and others. Comedians like Teju Babyface, Basorge, Okey Bakassi, I go dye, I go save, Gordons and many others were also on ground to spice up the show.
Gordons later became the 1st comedian to host the show after Olisa Adibua.
Interestingly, a couple of the shows were also hosted by Freeze.
Like it was before, Laffs n Jamz will be held on the last Saturday of every month starting from June 2011 and this time, it will periodically feature foreign comedians and musicians.
Speaking on this new development, Basket Mouth said: I am extremely dogged when it comes to satisfying the audience, but this does not mean it is easy. You know ones dreams have a way of pushing you to achieve the best, which basically is the secret behind all I do.
Already top brands are battling to take up the sponsorship of Laff n Jamz.
