Telecommunication giant, Globacom recently thrilled residents of Calabar to comedy, music and dance from some of the nation’s entertainment stars when the popular Glo Laffta Fest touched down in the capital of Cross River.
Similarly, the train of the comedy show hit Makurdi, capital of the Food Basket of the Nation State, Benue, with a big bang as the residents of the city thronged Royal Choice Hotel, venue of the show, to welcome home one of their own, Terry G, leading the pack of Whizkid, Eedris Abdukareem, Freewinds, Gandoki and 2 Cantalk.
The Calabar show, which was held at the popular Cultural Centre, paraded the likes of Basketmouth, I Go Save, Gandoki, the ‘if you see Ego’ crooner, Djinee, Katz, Buchi, I Go Dye, Eedris Abdukareem, J. Martins and Terry G. Among the local budding acts that were also on hand to entertain the crowd were Real Pee, Bishop Fernadex, School Boy and Ijeoma.
From dancing competitions to mini beauty pageants, the audience in the two cities was treated to a variety of Nigerian music and dancing steps as the artists on parade gave a good account of themselves.
Speaking at the Calabar show, Mr. Charles Odiase, Head of South-South Territory, Globacom, noted that the show was organized free of charge to appreciate the people of Calabar for their support for Globacom over the years.
Dr. Prince Dimkpa, Head of East 1 Territory, while welcoming the audience in Makurdi, noted that Benue was strategic to Globacom, “hence the company keeps on including the state each time we have a programme like this as you can all recollect that we were here in Makurdi February this year for the Glo Rock ‘N’ Rule concert which was also free like toady’s show”.
The crowd in Makurdi was so huge that three giant screens were mounted outside the hall to enable those who could not secure a place in the hall to catch a view of what was going on inside the venue.
