In the next series of posts on www.simplysamad.blogspot.com, we'll be revealing certain details, happenings and specifics series of things that happened at the event that no one else will tell you.
However, for now, let's run a quick into the colourful event.

The day was October 22, 2011, the venue was the Exhibition Hall of the Eko Hotel & Suites and the event was the 2011 edition of ‘The Headies;’ an annual celebration of musical achievement – an event once christened the Hip Hop World Awards.
Like most awards, ‘The Headies’ had its good, sour, ugly and unforgettable moments but unlike most awards, it remains one of Nigeria’s most prestigious reference points in the corridors of musical recognition.
Over the last five years, ‘The Headies’ has colourfully celebrated music star, budding talents and veterans who have paid their dues in the Nigerian music scene.
This year was no different in this regard and it was indeed a bag of mixed grill for winners, nominees, celebrities and artistes who performed at the 2011 edition of the event.
On Saturday, October 22, 2011, the red carpet was packed full with exotically dressed celebrities, guests, paparazzi, media representatives and countless showbiz industry players. The red carpet was so loaded with guests, it was impossible to take more than two steps without bumping into someone. This segment of the event stretched for hours and while it afforded the likes of Denrele and others the opportunity to engage celebrities and guests, it was an endless wait for guests in the Exhibition Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites who linger eternally on their seats; waiting for the show award ceremony to begin.
This however took nothing away from the fact that the event was well attended by celebrities, prominent personalities and respected industry players.
Besides the caliber of personalities at the event, the event was well punctuated with dramatic scenes and shocking yet unforgettable happenings.
