Say ‘No!’ to rape campaign

As the 2011 edition of The Headies progressed, there came a moment when the women took charge. Don’t get me wrong. There was no revolution within the venue, rather, the organizers dedicated some time to the ‘Say No! to rape campaign’ as they screened the opinion of Nigerian music stars (strictly female) on the big screen. While all those who spoke (Kween and others) with a sense of tranquility around their comments, music star, Omawunmi easily let the radical side of her personality take over as she lashed out at rapists and members of the community who condone such acts, which she described as criminal. She held nothing back as she verbally condemned rapists to the hottest corners in the pits of Hell. For her, it was not just a verbal campaign; rather, it was a movement to be championed to the end of the earth.
