HENRY rejoins Arsenal but...

Henry rejoins Arsenal (but sorry Gunners fans, it's only for training...)

It is more than four years since Thierry Henry quit Arsenal.

But the Gunners legend was back in the old routine on Thursday when he rolled up at their training ground to keep in shape.

It was like the mid-90s all over again as Henry led from the front with Arsene Wenger's youthful squad at London Colney.

Now 34, Henry is still in top condition despite his current stint in the Major Soccer League with New York Red Bulls.

After they were knocked out of the MLS play-offs by David Beckham's LA Galaxy, Henry asked Wenger if he could join Arsenal to keep fit. He re-joined Arsenal in a similar agreement last January.

And the Gunners boss was more than happy to have him along to offer a helping hand to the club's youngsters.

Starry-eyed players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tried to play it cool training alongside the man who scored 174 goals in 254 appearances.

Wenger said: 'Thierry was back training with us. He just wants to stay fit, enjoy himself and come back to Arsenal Football Club. He is at home here so it's always good to have him back.

'We kept in touch anyway, even in the States. He just turns up and practices. When it's possible of course he can practice with the first team.

'He always gives us a lift and shows just what a good player he is. He doesn't like to lose - that doesn't change.'

And if Robin van Persie comes a cropper any time soon, Wenger might be tempted to repeat his trick with Jens Lehmann by offering him a short-term deal.

Not that many Arsenal fans would complain at that...
