Blood-thirsty armed robbers attack Daniel Ademinokan

For popular Nollywood director, Daniel Ademinokan, the first day of December 2011 has kicked off on a very clear note and he had no premonition whatsoever that by the end of this same day, he would be at the mercy of blood thirsty armed robbers who after robbing him at gun point; pointed a gun at his head and almost pulled the trigger.

On the fateful day, Ademinokan left the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island in Lagos and was driving along the Ikorodu road when he had a flat somewhere around the Onikan axis of Lagos after his tire tore.
It was already dark and the father of one could not afford to park his car at that part of Lagos given its notorious reputation for robbery incident at that time of the day.
As a result, safety prevailed and he drove further down the Ikorodu Road till he reached somewhere around Palmgroove. There, he decided to change the flat as he had a spare.
Like any reasonable man, he got out of the car, got his jack out of the boot and had jacked the vehicle up to an extent when he noticed that his jack had suddenly gone bad.
Unable to proceed with the process of changing to a spare, he made several attempts to flag down some of the cars that drove past but none obliged.
It was around this time that he noticed a motorcycle riding towards him. Initially, he had hoped he would be able to get help from the motorcyclist but alas! He was wrong.
By the time, Ademinokan realized what was about to happen, it was already too late as the cyclist and another unidentified young man got off the bike and pointed a gun at the director who was already in distress.
In a telephone chat with Simply Samad, Ademinokan narrated details of his traumatic encounter with the robbers, how they dispossessed him of his wrist watch, mobile telephones, Blackberry, chain other wireless devices and virtually everything valuable he had in his possession; event the bucket of chin-chin he had in his car.
As if this was not bad enough, the armed robbers decided to appease the blood-thirsty spirits in them and pointed a gun directly on Ademinokan’s forehead.
Like any other mortal, Ademinokan was terrified at what was about to happen. Would they really pull the trigger and kill him after robbing him. Well, he was not eager to find out and began appealing to the robbers that he had already given them everything he had.
According to Ademinokan, the robber that had the gun pointed at his head had bloodshot eyes and one didn’t need a seer to realize that he was ‘high’ on something.
“I begged them because that was the only thin g I could do. The guy was ready to kill me and he had already shown me that he had nothing to lose by firing the loaded weapon three times.”
According to Ademinokan, this was not a question of whether the gun was loaded with bullets or not because he had already blasted three bullets to erase any element of doubt from my mind. “I was not ready to die so I did the most logical thing to do; I begged him.”
At the end, they left and did not shoot him as they had initially threatened to.
Robbery incidents in Lagos have since assumed a viral dimension but we urge the concerned authorities to make Lagos a safe place for residents and everyone therein.
