Gunmen shoot policeman in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have shot a police crime officer attached to the Rigasa police station in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The police officer simply identified as Alhaji Buwaya was shot last Saturday.
Daily Trust gathered that Buwaya was shot close to his residence at Tarotaro, Abuja road, Rigasa, but that ‘he did not die.’  According to a witness, the gunmen came on a motorcycle when they shot at him and ran away and that he was immediately rushed to a hospital.
The incident caused tension in the area as it was gathered that policemen stormed the area shortly after Buwaya was shot arresting youths and motorcyclists. “Close to 60 people were arrested; in fact, the youths almost protested,” a resident of the area said.

Daily Trust observed that killings by unknown gunmen are becoming rampant in Rigasa as hardly a week will pass by without one or two persons being killed. On April 1, 2012, one ASP and a lecturer were killed by unknown gunmen. Also last Wednesday, gunmen killed a final year student of Imam Secondary School, Makarfi Road in Rigasa. The student, Mohammed Sani Adamu, was mistaken for a soldier by his killers because he was in his Man’O War uniform, it was gathered.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Aminu Lawan, confirmed the incident, saying the police officer did not die as he only sustained injury.
