Nigerians, please let's celebrate with the blue half of Manchester
● ... and they nearly threw it away
Jubilant Manchester City fans were in seventh heaven tonight after their team came back with two goals in stoppage time to clinch their first top-flight title in 44 years.
City looked to be down and out against Premier League strugglers Queens Park Rangers with just minutes to spare, but goals from strikers Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero saw them win 3-2 to top the table ahead of archrivals Manchester United, who won 1-0 at Sunderland.
Their fans, who had been shedding tears of frustration at the prospect of missing out on the title on the final day of the season, had to endure a rollercoaster of emotion during the nail-biting game - before the nerves were replaced by tears of joy.
Mancini had this to say:
Victorious manager Roberto Mancini said: 'We had a lot of chances. We deserved to win this championship.'
He added: 'It is a crazy season and crazy last minute.'
Adorning 'Champions 12' City shirts as they lifted the biggest prize in English club football the celebrations are set to carry on with a victory parade will be held in Manchester tomorrow.
Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council, said: 'Having the city's two clubs contest the title has brought Manchester worldwide attention and helped boost tourism revenues.
'It's been a nail-biting finish to the season and the council stood ready to support a parade whichever club triumphed.
'This parade is an opportunity for Man City fans, who have experienced countless ups and downs over the years, to celebrate a resounding success.
