Eva Mendes in Very Tight Pencil Skirt as She Goes Shopping

Birds are notorious for sprucing up their nests before laying their eggs, and it may well be that Eva Mendes is taking a cue from mother nature.

The actress, who is currently dating heartthrob Ryan Gosling, today drove herself to the Diamond Foam and Fabric store in Hollywood to shop for fabrics.

The store caters to professional and do-it-yourself home decorators and has two stories of varied materials to create original bedding, cushions and drapes.

The 38-year-old exited the store carrying a large bolt of green fabric wrapped in blue paper and covered in plastic.

Never mind what was in her hand - the Training Day actress looked stunning.

Her very tight denim pencil skirt showed off her famous curves to a T and  she paired the knee-length skirt with a blue polka dotted dress shirt that she tied in a knot at the waist.


A pair of blue sunglasses matched the outfit perfectly as did her beige wedge-heeled sandals.

Tongues have been wagging non stop about a possible marriage to Gosling since the two began dating last year.

After co-starring together in The Place Beyond the Pines, the two have been inseparable.

Eva accompanied Gosling earlier this month to his native Canada.

Together, they watched the 32-year-old Notebook star's mother pick up her graduate degree during a ceremony at her university.

The Cuban-American actress has a long time interest in home decor.

In 2008, she and former boyfriend George Augusto launched an original home decor line, called Vida.

Sold through Macy's, Mendes said helping with the line fulfilled a lifelong 'passion' she's had with design.

In 2010, after splitting with Augusto, she started a dinnerware line.
