Falling in Love | A Short Story

Falling in Love

Mr. Adeleye was 60 years old when he found himself falling helplessly in love with his girlfriend shortly after he met her.

He was not surprised when he found himself getting married to her after less than three months of courtship. He was deeply in love.

Six months after the wedding, he still loved her but it was a different brand of love. It was not the kind of love the Devil had for Adam and Eve but Mr. Adeleye was not sure how far away it was from Lucifer’s brand.

Before you could say Jack Robinson, he found himself dragging her before a Lagos court asking for a divorce.

Not that his wife was a bad person but Mr. Adeleye said he was afraid of her. We all know most men are not afraid of their wives rather, they love and care about them.

Well, Mr. Adeleye opened up on his fear when he said:

“She keeps threatening to kill me,” he had told the court.

Ironically, his wife professed her undying love for her husband. She loved him so very much.

She loved him so much that she got him drugs worth N3, 000 with her hard earned money when he was sick.

However, just like her husband, her love for him also had a clause. There was one thing she did not like about him and she shared it with those who cared to listen:

“He sleeps with other women and they keep bringing him food.”

This was the story of how they fell in (and perhaps out of) love.

What would you advice such a couple to do?
