Michael Jordan's Son, Marcus Fined

Former UCF guard Marcus Jordan, a son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, pleaded no contest to a disturbing the peace charge and was ordered to pay a $250 fine Thursday.
Jordan, 21, got into a verbal altercation July 1 in the parking lot of an Omaha, Neb., hotel during the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials. He had also been charged with obstructing a police officer, but that charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Jordan was a three-year starter on the UCF basketball team. He officially left the program last week, but he is still taking classes at UCF.

Jordan’s attorney, Steve Lefler, told the Associated Press the former basketball player went back to the Omaha police station a few hours after an animated argument with authorities trying to assist hotel security to apologize for his behavior.

“I can assure you, after 35 years of being a lawyer, it’s the first time I’ve ever heard of anybody going to the police station to apologize,” Lefler said. “He’s just been a sweet kid to work with.”
