Wande Coal’s Secret Pact With Parents

It is no secret that Wande Ojosipe, aka Wande Coal, joined Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records after the storm that ripped apart the erstwhile Mo’Hits Records.
What is news, perhaps, is that the singer has managed to keep out of scandals and out of the reach of malicious tale bearers on the music scene because of a pact he made with his parents.

Wande’s folks initially did not approve of his ambition to delve into the enchanting world of music until he made them a promise.

“I gave them an assurance that I would not bring shame upon our family. As their first child, I was bound to live responsibly. So, I promised to return to the university and get a bachelor’s degree. I was an 100-level student of the University of Lagos when I joined Mo’ Hits Records.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. I cannot afford to let my parents down or ignore their day-to-day prayer points and valuable advice that have seen me this far. After God, my parents come next,” he says.

Beneath his passion for showbiz, Wande is very religious and will not compromise his devotion to the church on any grounds.

But he has ruled out any thoughts of marriage for now.

“Marriage is the last thing on my mind for now. I want to focus on my music career and learn how my parents have remained the best of friends many years after I was born. Marriage can wait. I am not in a hurry,” he says.
