‘Help! My Husband is Jobless Yet Addicted to Drugs’ – Wife Tells Court

Apparently inundated by the myriad of her hubby’s social malaise, Mrs. Ronke Osagie has asked a Lagos court to dissolve her 21-year-old marriage to Mr. Andrew Osagie on the grounds that her husband is a drug addict, jobless and unbelievably violent.

The union, which is blessed with four children – two males and two females is presently headed for the rocks after Mr. Osagie allegedly abandoned his responsibilities as a husband.

Mrs. Osagie, a 39-year-old restaurant operator told the court that “my husband is jobless and instead of reflecting on his state and charting a new course, he resorted to taking drugs and became violent. He comes to my restaurant and chases away my customers.  I have been shouldering the responsibilities of the family single handedly. I married him on mutual consent in 1987.”

She prayed the court to grant her the custody of the children and restrain her husband from visiting her shop and house forthwith. 

The respondent, Mr. Andrew Osagie was however absent in court.

The court however maintained that “the petitioner proved her case even in the absence of the respondent and the marriage was dissolved.
