175 Illegal Vehicle-Tracking Firms Get NCC Ultimatum


The Nigerian Communications Commission has issued a 14-day ultimatum to over 175 illegal vehicle tracking service providers in the country.

The vehicular tracking business is a regulated market under the auspices of the NCC.

The Director, Legal and Regulatory Services, NCC, Ms. Josephine Amuwa, notes that some companies have been advertising the provision of vehicular tracking services using either or both satellite and terrestrial networks, without obtaining the requisite permit from the NCC.

In a public notice placed on NCC website, she says, “It has come to the notice of the commission that some companies have been advertising the provision of Vehicular Tracking Services, using either or both satellite and terrestrial networks, without obtaining the requisite permit from the commission.
