Suspect Conceals Cocaine in Jewellery


Shortly after he arrived in Nigeria from Brazil aboard a KLM flight, Oluigboka Emmanuel, 33, caused a stir at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport recently. The commotion happened when operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency discovered about 2.472kg of a substance that tested positive to cocaine inside a box of jewellery in his luggage.

The suspect was arrested after the NDLEA officials spent several hours extracting the hard drugs from the jewellery because of the complicated manner in which they were concealed.

The commander of the NDLEA at the airport, Mr. Hamza Umar confirmed the incident. He said, “This mode of concealment is strange and unknown in the history of the NDLEA. The drugs were industrially packed in ear rings, buttons, necklaces, bangles as well as in female belts. We had to forcefully open them to recover the drugs. The quantity of cocaine found weighed 2.472kg. One arrest has been made in connection with the seizure.”
