If news reaching this medium is anything to go by, then two Former 2nd deputy Chairmen of Rivers PMAN Robin Maja and the Lady with the golden voice Lady IB, with former 1st Vice Chairman, Sample Siereh will square up against each other in the forthcoming election for the chairmanship of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Rivers State chapter.

Much of this was made known at an emergency congress meeting of the association held last Monday February 11, 2013 in Port Harcourt. Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of the PMAN, Electoral committee, Comrade Boggysay Pepple said so far the three have picked form and assured musicians that the election will be thorough, transparent and with verifiable PMAN members from the state as participants.
He said the election would be held at the Police officers mess on March 4th 2013; according to Pepple the choice of the Police officers mess was necessitated by the need to check the excesses of those whose stock in trade is to constitute problem and to also guarantee the safety of the voters, voted and the election committee.

While briefing over 250 members of the association at the at Maitai Royal Hotel in Rumuomasi,  the Eleco chairman further reiterated that all the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of elections as contained in the PMAN constitution will be judiciously observed. He said gone are the days when people will come from outside the state to interfere with PMAN election thereby causing back biting, adding also that the association is vigorously working against combating the issue of allowing all manners of people hiding under the cloak of musicians to seek election or partake in the voting exercise as members.

Hear him: “I want to sound it loud and clear that the upcoming election is only for Rivers performing indigenous artistes who are resident in the state and are known to be active members of the Rivers state chapter of the Association” he warned, pointing out however that to qualify for the election whether as a voter or to be voted for, such member must be up to date financially.

Mr. Boggysay Pepple also encouraged the members to indicate interest in the affairs of the association telling them to feel free to come up for the nomination forms which are still open for collection on the payment of the prescribed fees according to the positions being vied for.

Meanwhile the immediate past Chairman, Peter Stonecold (a.k.a Pero) had asked all contestants and members alike to conduct themselves properly for a peaceful election so that the Rivers PMAN which is still in the process of consolidating a new found love, unity and peace will continue to move to the next level. He called for a review of the one year term saying this is partly why the Rivers PMAN has remained divided and reigns with corruption.
