Ja Rule to Leave Jail in July

According to a Mar. 1 New York Post report, Ja Rule will not be locked up in federal prison for much longer. The rapper is scheduled to be released from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center in July after serving time in his tax evasion case, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

After serving most of his two-year state prison sentence for illegal gun possession, 36-year-old Ja Rule was released from an upstate prison last week. However, the feds were waiting for him, and immediately hauled him off into federal custody for charges stemming from an unrelated tax evasion case.

The Associated Press reports that the singer has admitted to his failure to pay taxes on more than $3 million earned between 2004 and 2006 while he lived in New Jersey.

Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center plays host to prisoners awaiting court dates or having short terms left on their sentences. Ja Rule’s guest session sends on his July 28 release date.
