Big Brother Africa Update: Sex Tape Villain Becomes National Hero
· Discovery of the
homicidal housemate and his concealed weapon
Let us take a ride
back into the very first days of the 2013 edition of the Big Brother Africa
reality TV show titled ‘The Chase’ especially with regards to one of the
evicted housemates, Pokello Nare.
Barely a week into
the show, she was hit by a nasty ghost from her sexual past, a steamy sex tape.
The sex tape in
question was not lengthy in nature. Rather, it was a short clip but it was
enough to do collateral damage to Pokello’s personality and moral physique as
seen by the viewing public and this soon became a major reference point for
her.
The fact that the
incident in the sex tape occurred prior to her entry into the Big Brother
Africa house, it did little or nothing to quell the spears of condemnation from
being hurled at Pokello.
When Pokello was
eventually evicted, a good number of viewers especially those on the morally
erect side of the fence had expected her country to verbally give her a
remorseless pounding.
However, what
happened when Pokello returned home to Zimbabwe was a far cry to what some
had anticipated.
Pokello was evicted
from Big Brother Africa-The Chase but received a hero’s welcome at the Harare International
Airport by scores of
fans, just like Natasha.
The fans, led by
her official support group, ‘Team Pokello’ along with her family and fellow
housemate Hakeem, cheered on as Pokello could not help but shed tears as she
hugged and shook hands with fans that were clad in ‘Team Pokello’ regalia.
Her 10-year-old
son, Gerald who incidentally happens to be one of her biggest fans was also in
the crowd and he stood solidly by her until she was whisked away to a hotel in
a white stretch Hummer limousine.
In a shocking
twist, Nando was evicted from the Big Brother Africa house after being found
guilty of concealing a dangerous weapon.
This puts an end to
the STD sage in the house between Nando and Selly; both of whom have now been
officially evicted from the show.
The STD sage began when
Nando openly accused fellow housemate, Selly of infecting him with STDs and it
came as a bit of a surprise to viewers when Nando and Selly who were once very
intimate suddenly began to avoid each other.
Earlier in the
show, while talking to Bimp one-on-one, Nando had disclosed that Selly infected
him with what he called 'Chlamydia;' a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), even
as this claim is yet to be medically verified.
Nando’s allegations
might remain largely unconfirmed but it completely explains the glaring loss of
affection between himself and Selly while she was still in the house to a point
of keeping each other at arms length.
The drama appears
to have taken a new dimension as the Ghanaian evictee and former housemate, Selly
has threatened to ensure Nando pays the price for allegedly tarnishing her
image before a global audience.
While fielding questions
at a recent press conference in Accra,
Selly revealed she is presently considering suing Nando for defamation of
character.
When asked to
comment on Nando's claims that she infected him with an STD, she said, "Actually,
my mum has threatened to take Nando on legally, which we have communicated to
the BBA producers. Nando and I did not have sexual intercourse; we made out,
yes! And that was as far as it went. I am only hearing all these things outside
of the house because I didn’t know about it while I was in the house so I
didn’t get a chance to defend myself.”
She expressed her
shock at his claim and noted that she would get him to communicate to the world
where he contracted his ‘STD’ from.
“…So for the STI
allegations that he is making, I am just waiting for Nando to come out so I can
ask him how he got the STI. I have been tested and I don’t have any background
of STI or STD so I don’t know how Nando contracted the disease that he claims
he has.”
Nando might have
blamed Selly for his STD but who would he blame for what led to his eviction?
After a very heated
altercation between Ghana’s
Elikem and Tanzania’s
Nando in the house, Big Brother was forced to reach a verdict.
After the eviction
show, Big Brother summoned all housemates to the living room and replayed the
footage of the very tempestuous argument that almost led to a fight that would have
easily ended in a ‘blood bath.’
Prior to the
summon, Nando already had one strike for concealing a weapon to the Saturday
party a while back, was then given two more strikes for his bad conduct - one
for his attempt at violence and the second one for his concealment of a pair of
scissors under his bed.
Nando’s third
strike was born from making direct threats against Elikem’s life.
“I feel like
stabbing him. A ‘nigga’ like that deserves to die,” Nando had said.
Last month, he had
also been served with a strike and a stern warning from Big Brother after he
was found carrying a knife to the Channel O Party. The possession of weapons or
intention to be violent in the House constituted another violation of the Big
Brother rules.
Immediately the
announcement was made, he was disqualified and expelled from the house.
On the other hand,
Elikem was also given a strike for counter-provoking Nando during their
altercation and will remain in the house.
