Meet the Medical Undergraduate who Discovered Musical Talent During ASUU Strike
The popular saying: “When life throws lemons at you, make
lemonades” finds a fitting place in the life of a budding singer, Sandie (born
Sandra Ajao).
The 21-year-old doctor in training seized the opportunity of the
unfortunate strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASSU) to unearth some of her other gifts and unique talents.
The product of this inner search is what has given birth to a
female rapper who employs the use of punch-lines, wordplays and witty bars to
display her readiness to take charge of her musical destiny.
She fully kicked off her musical career during the ASUU strike by
introducing herself on the music scene with a fresh song titled Lecturer. The track bothers on a
conscious issue and yet employs humour and catchy phrases in passing the
message across while using her school; Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) as a case
study.
Sandie is a Hip Hop purist and is highly influenced by Kendrick
Lamar and J.cole. This is definitely a fresh breath in the Hip Hop scene as she
plans to pose a threat to other female emcees.
